Knitwear Washing Instructions

Knitwear Washing Instructions:
We recommend washing your garment on a gentle-action 40 degree cycle with non-biological or Colour Care detergent, without fabric softener.  It is advised to wash garments inside-out to reduce pilling caused by abrasion from other garments in the machine.  Washing at a higher temperature than recommended causes garments to stretch widthways and appear to shrink in length.
Drying
The best way to dry your knitwear garment is to air-dry flat.  Hanging knitwear can cause stretching and mis-shapen garments, as can the direct heat from radiators.  We do not recommend that you tumble dry your garment.
Ironing
Take great care if you iron your garment.  Ironing melts the acrylic fibres causing them to relax and stretch out, leaving the garment with a limp and baggy handle.  Once this has happened the damage is irreversible.  It is usually apparent that an acrylic garment has been ironed by the distinct ‘shine’ where the acrylic has plasticised, often with a flattened/distorted knit line.
